Meekatharra is a small town situated on the Great Northern Highway 760 km’s North East of Perth in the Murchison-East Gascoyne region of the State. The name, Meekatharra originated from an Aboriginal name for a source of water which was located to the south west of the town. Today Meekatharra acts as a service centre for pastoral stations, established mines and mineral exploration groups in the district.

RFDS (Western Operations) maintains a base office located on Main Street in the town and hangar facilities at the airport. RFDS (Western Operations) medical officers work from the Meekatharra Hospital and contact details for the hospital are available at the following website:

RFDS (Western Operations') houses are provided for flight nurses and pilots and WA Country Health Services provides housing for medical officers.
