Australian residents are transported in the event of an emergency or in an inter-hospital transfer by the Royal Flying Doctor Service at NO charge. 

RFDS (Western Operations) receives funding for the service provided from:

  • The Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing
  • The State Government Department of Health
  • Insurance recovery for the transport of patients eligible to claim from accident insurance and workers’ compensation.
  • Fundraising

Fundraising is required to supplement our recurrent budget and to support capital expenditure such as aircraft and medical equipment.
